Satellite bandwidth compression technology for the M4, RBGAN and BGAN platforms

New solution effectively increases the available M4 and RBGAN satellite bandwidth tenfold over MPEG2

BALDWIN, NY. – March 17, 2005 – Worldwide Integrated Communication Solutions, a division of DV Laptop, Inc. and privately held company that designs, develops, and markets the fastest, most reliable bi-directional satellite-based broadband access solutions, today announced the latest addition to their product platform. The addition of the DV Ultra Compression Platform to the M4, RBGAN or BGAN platforms will allow new or existing WICS customers to reduce their bandwidth costs for web based applications on average by 90%.

Incorporating this solution into our platform will allow customers to cut their bandwidth costs and reduce time to transmit by 90%. The WICS solution will now compete on price with the lower end VSAT solutions."

The WICS solution compresses static and dynamic data and content in real time by using lossless compression algorithms. The solution is an easy to install, single box encoder that works with a decoder at the client’s site. The WICS solution provides store and forward capabilities at SD 720x480 / 30 frames per second. It also provides live streaming capabilities at 320x240 from 64K to 512K bit rates.

”In certain applications, the compression solution will reduce monthly recurring costs to the end user by as much as 90% by increasing bandwidth efficiency of the GAN terminals in Internet access applications," said Sean Stevenson, chief technology officer of WICS. "This new offering will allow our customers the ability to stay with the less expensive GAN technologies without moving to a higher priced VSAT solution.
