Log file analysis
Sample of log file for this site using analog.exe
Each line from the server log shows the originating IP address, the date and time, the page called and, where available, the link origin.

Log file analysis results
I use a program called analog.exe to analyse the log files. I use an ancient, 20 years old, version 5.91beta1. You can get the latest version here.
The first thing to do is add up all the logfiles for the month, or whatever. This puts all the inout data into ine giant log file. You can do this at the DOS prompt with a command like:
copy acc* big.txt
That copies all the apache files like access-logfile.2023.03.07 access-logfile.2023.03.08 etc into one big text file. e.g big.txt
You then need to edit the config file for analog.exe, analog.cfg, like so:

OUTFILE C:\Users\***\***\***\var\log\httpd\ssl-www.satsig.net\mar2023\traffic-1-17mar2023.htm
The result is an output html file like traffic-1-17mar2023.htm which may be displayed using Chrome, opened with Control O
This file shows how many times each page has been viewed, has failed to serve, has been referred etc.

Extra lists about pages that failed help you work out where there are faults in the page links. Also if you get multiple incoming failures you can identify typos is web likes for other sites and either tell them or put in a permanent redirect in the apache conf file.
